Rights Respecting School Award - BRONZE - Rights Committed
At Ysgol Penygaer School we believe that a child’s wellbeing is at the heart of their education. We are proud to be on our journey to becoming a Rights Respecting School. The Rights Respecting Schools Award is a programme run by UNICEF that aims to put children’s rights at the centre of education in the UK. This involves embedding children’s rights into the ethos and culture of the school in order to improve the pupils’ wellbeing.
Here at Ysgol Penygaer School we have achieved Bronze status and very much hope to achieve our Silver award in the upcoming year.
‘A Rights Respecting School teaches children and young people that they have rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. From this starting point they also learn their responsibility to respect others' rights in all relationships in the community.' (UNICEF)
