Mr Alun Stephens Retirement

Before passing the baton onto Mrs Helen Conway, Mr Stephens had shared a few words...
Dear Parents and Carers,
After much thought and with very mixed emotions, I am writing to let you know that I will be retiring at the end of this school year.
Having spent 12 wonderful years at Penygaer Primary School as Deputy Headteacher, and the last three years as acting Headteacher, this decision has not been an easy one.
Penygaer has been such an important part of my life. It has been a privilege to work with your children and to be part of their learning journeys. I have been incredibly proud to see our school grow, adapt, and achieve so much together. I think it is fitting that this is the 50th year of the school and will finish when we turn 50.
I also want to reassure you that the Governing Body is already in the process of arranging the headship for September 2026. They will ensure a smooth and well-managed transition so that the school continues to thrive.
Thank you for the trust, support, and kindness you have shown me over the years. The strength of our school community is something truly special, and it has been an honour to lead a team of such dedicated, caring staff
who always put the children first.
Although I am retiring from the role, Penygaer will always hold a very special place in my heart. I look forward to seeing the school continue to flourish under its next chapter of leadership.
Regards,
Alun Stephens
