Handa's Surprise with ICT

This week, while learning about Africa, Year 1 have enjoyed reading 'Handa's Surprise'.

First, we talked about all the different fruits that we like. We even tried all the fruits that Handa had in her basket. Lots of us were surprised to find out that we like avacado and mango. We used Jit to create a graph that shows how many people like each fruit. We did the graphs on the iPad.

Here is one of the graphs that we created:

After that, we all had a turn of working collaboratively on a document. We all logged in and found a document that Mrs Peters had shared with us. We were all able to edit the document at the same time! It was great to be able to see what everyone else was learning. Together we made posters in Welsh. It was a fun activity.

Here are some examples of the posters we made:

We really enjoyed the story of Handa's Surprise. We noticed that the story was full of questions and decided to try and write some of our own. We looked at the different punctuation needed and practiced drawing question marks. After that we thought about the characters in the book and decided to ask them some questions. We used the app 'Chatterpix' to animate the characters in the book and to bring our work to life!

Here are the videos we created:
